    Great Tutorial!
I unpacked some image texture images using blender, then found the HDR on openfootage.net
Because the URL was in the name of the HDR.
    Thanks again!

Is there a reason i cannot see any textures in the start up file? The tower is purple.

Elia: I got an idea how to create volumetric light rays in Cycles, let me experiment a bit and maybe I can do a tutorial.

Amy: You cannot use the strands directly in Cycles but you can use particle instaces. Jimmy Gunawan made a tut on that topic:

Hey Joshua, changing the color over the lifetime looks really cool!

Karl: Your result looks very much like some Trapcode Particular-Demo I've seen recently. You really show that Blender is playing with the big boys now :)

Hi Gotfried, I wanted to thank you because after having seen you video, I wanted to do something different but with the same method.

I'm SOOO glad you posted a table of contents with this video!!!

The tutorial is great, but the table of contents lets me fish back and forth through it when I need to review in the future - VERY HELPFUL!

(oh, yeah, the tutorial is epic as well!!!)

Looks promising, will practice this today.

On an another question, is it possible to make use of fur particles with Cycles? I tried to swap from the settings in my BI to Cycles but the particles for the hair disappear.

Gottfried, is it now possible to create volumetric light rays in Cycles?
If so, a video showing how to do so would be awesome.
    Thanks

Hey tarik, cool first result. In your version, one can clearly see that the particles spawn frame-wise when using the path for the movement of the emitter. In such I case I suggest to try out the motion trail-addon I show in this tutorial:
